Exploration minière
2019 — volume 1, numéro 1
The Quebec Government offers two main geoscientific knowledge management services to support mining exploration and promote Quebec’s mineral potential. First, it acquires geoscientific information to support mining exploration, and second, it manages Quebec’s geoscientific heritage and circulates it through its geomining information system SIGÉOM.
In Canada, both the industry and the Government acknowledge that the public geosciences play a major role in mitigating the risks associated with mine exploration by identifying favourable mineral potential, so that exploration activities can become more effective and efficient (Duke, 2014 ; Moore, 2014). Not only does public geoscientific information guide private sector investment decisions, but it is also used by public authorities for public land use and resource management decisions, and to train highly qualified workers.
